It’s always a struggle to grow with technology. There are so many new and allegedly wonderful tools being thrown at us on a daily basis, some of which are great and some of which are a complete waste of time. If you’re like me at all technology is something I know that I should get better at but honestly sorting out what to do and how to do it is nothing short of a pain in the ___. I’m sure you know what I mean:
“You’re not on Twitter everyday? You need to get moving!”
“You mean you aren’t using Facebook on your iPhone? Get out of the dark ages man!”
You really need to get this app, it’ll change your life!”
I’m learning and slowly, very slowly starting to embrace some of this stuff. Recently I’ve discovered a screen sharing program called Go2Meeting that I have actually learned and now use regularly. I figured I would share with you why this has worked for me and maybe it will help you in your sales relationships.
I’m a people person and for me there’s nothing like a face to face meeting. However, with Presco’s customers all over the country and across the world it is just completely impossible for me to be face to face with everyone all the time. When our sales department started using Go2Meeting to have face to face meetings I have to say I was skeptical. I figured it would be a lot of work, I would have to install all sorts of things on my computer and it probably wouldn’t work very well anyway. I’m pretty comfortable with my computer but the idea of configuring new software and setting up new programs is something I would rather have the IT Department do for me. However, after grudgingly accepting the need to try this, I set it up and started to check it out. This was 4 months ago. Now, I’m not sure I would want to do my job without this tool.
With Go2Meeting, I’ve really been able to further optimize my customers time. The software allows my customers to sit in their office and meet with me face to face rather than taking up conference room space at their facility or having to entertain a manufacturer with a visit. They can simply log on and sit back for a quick, productive meeting. Surprisingly, the set up for this software is free and took me less than 5 minutes to set up. Trust me, if I can do this, you can too!
I also found out that I can screen share with multiple people at one and in recent meetings, I have been able to allow entire sales force teams to meet me using the web cam and put more than just a name to our partnership. Since I’m the new account manager for many of these customers, they have not had the ability to get together in one place to allow for a formal face to face meeting. Go2Meeting has solved this logistical problem, and these interactions have been extremely positive, even fun since we can see each.
I’m planning on really upping the ante and using this tool even more to serve my accounts and continue to build relationship, so when you get a request for a webinar meeting from me remember that’s it’s simple, effective and actually kind of fun.
