Presco Receives 2007 Employer Award of Excellence

Austin - Presco Polymers L.P. in Sherman received the Employer Award of Excellence for the Workforce Solutions Texoma area at the 11th Annual Texas Workforce Conference from November 14 through November 16 in Houston. The award honors employers that are actively involved with their local workforce board and have made a positive impact on employers, workers and the community.

“Forging strong ties between Texas employers and local workforce boards lays the groundwork for the future strength of the Texas economy,” said Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Chari Diane Rath. “I commend Presco Polymers and Workforce Solutions Texoma for their extraordinary efforts to support local workforce development and their contributions to the state of Texas.”

Texas-based Presco is a leading U.S. manufacturer of industrial and commercial marking and film products, such as yellow “CAUTION” tape. Presco turns to Workforce Solutions Texoma and its workforce centers to provide job fairs and workforce training. The company hires workers through Projects RIO (Re-Integration of Offenders), and a company representative serves on the Project Recovery Task Force - a local effort to help employees overcome barriers to employment. Presco also participates in Skill Development Fund and Incumbent Worker grants to help train workers.

Waymon McMackin and Jami Derzapf attended the conference in Houston and accepted the award. Mr. McMackin said, “ One of our stated goals is to be the premier employer in Grayson County and we believe this award proves we are making progress.”
