We take the guesswork out and put the science back in.

With the start of the New Year, Presco’s Engineered Films Research and Development Staff is off to a busy start providing our customers with superior service, and quick research and color match project turnaround times. At the end of the fourth quarter in 2015, Presco expanded their laboratory capabilities by adding several pieces of new equipment to assist in their development efforts. At the beginning of 2016, these pieces of equipment became operational in our laboratory.

Presco upgraded their color matching equipment to the state of the art X-rite CI 7800 Spectrophotometer and IMatch color software. This color matching equipment is unparalleled in the industry and significantly reduces color matching time. With the X-rite I Match software, Presco is inputting all our standard pigments and color standards in the colorant database. This allows us access to previously matched films to use as a base for new color matching projects which in turn decreases our color matching time and increases our color matching output.

Presco also added an ATR-Brabender Plasticorder Torque rheometer to the research laboratory. This enables Presco to measure torque, fusion time, and dynamic stability. Presco will be able to increase their knowledge on the rheology of our products and pinpoint processing conditions on new products to ensure the highest quality film our customers have come to expect from us.

Finally, Presco has added a RF Welder to the list of equipment available for research & development. RF welding or high frequency welding is the process of bonding two materials together through the use of electromagnetic energy. Pressure, not heat form the bond with the materials. RF welding is used throughout the automotive and medical industry to fuse thermoplastic materials together to obtain a hermetic, successful seal. With Presco having RF welding capabilities, we are ready to assist our customers in the development of new products.
