With warmer temps moving across the nation reminding us that spring has made its debut, we are also reminded that this season marks the start of National Work Zone Awareness Week. For the past 20 years state departments of transportation (DOT), national road safety organizations, government agencies, private companies, and individuals have considered this week to be a great time to raise awareness of the need for caution when driving through work zones that are just beginning to appear everywhere. As the champion in safety marking products, Presco wants YOU to be aware of the goals that these agencies have outlined in an effort to set their campaign apart:

  • Initiate efforts to raise awareness of the need for more caution when driving through work zones to decrease fatalities and injuries;
  • Establish and promote a uniform set of safety tips;
  • The value of training and the importance of best practices regarding work zone safety would be promoted among individuals in the private sector, industry, and roadway workers;
  • Reach out to both roadway workers and contractors to communicate possible effects of motorists’ behavior in response to traffic delays, and advise on what steps might possibly be taken to lessen negative behavior; and
  • Outreach efforts would be made to work with entities involved with work zone safety and to form partnerships

Here at Presco, we offer a wide variety of products that can make a direct impact on preserving the safety and security of construction workers and motorists alike.  From using our barricade tapes for marking dangerous areas and special instructions to durable temporary safety fencing for crowd control and construction site protection.

This year’s National Work Zone Awareness Week will be held in Washington, D.C and will promote the following theme: “Drive Like You Work Here.” If you are interested in being a participant or sponsor for this event, visit www.nwzaw.org/participate.html to find out how!
